Chris is one of the environmental advocates in the legislature.
He has fought to clean up the Chesapeake Bay, supported the ban on fracking, and supported legislation to mitigate the impact of climate change.
Chris voted for legislation to ban fracking in Maryland and to create a Maryland Commission on Climate Change, as well as important legislation such as the Watershed Protection and Restoration Act, the Pollinator Protection Act, the Oyster Management Act, the Keep Antibiotics Effective Act and legislation encouraging and mandating energy efficiencies like the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reductions Act. In addition, he was prepared to vote for legislation to ban Styrofoam in Maryland and legislation to further protect Maryland's hardwood forests, but these bills died in their committee and never made it to the floor of the House.
Protecting open-space and adding more parks, bike paths, and recreation centers are Chris’s top priorities. (Pro-environment rating 86%, League of Conservation Voters)
